About site, The Falkland Islands and South Atlantic,I have laid the bones of this site but have neither the time nor knowledge to fill in all the sections I had hoped. It has taken years, one subject has led to another and it is far bigger than I intended. If you can help to complete or add to it, photographs or text, please contact me and I will acknowledge your work. Extra information and help on any subject is always welcome. I have left the sides of all pages and subjects with room for links to relevant information. This site is not political, and will not be used for a platform for political opinions, but is intended to provide information and awareness of the Falklands and South Atlantic as it was and is, who we are, who we were and who we will be. It is hoped that it will build and expand as others join, it will be ongoing and probably never finished. Corrections and constructive criticism will help with accuracy of information! falklands.southatlantic@gmail.com
A huge thank you to all who have lent or taken photographs , particularly Robert Maddocks, Marlane and Ali Marsh, Jean Sinclair, Tracy Evans, Russ Evans, David Pole- Evans, Derek Lee, Alan and Dilys Waton, Biffo Tuson and Terry Spruce. This would not have been possible without their contributions. Thanks too for the information and articles written by Joan Spruce on wild cattle, corrals and gauchos, and Emma Brook for the Geology.

Horse and gear information- mostly learned from Chris Perry. A special thanks to Marj Sackett for dragging me around Fox Bay as a small child and teaching me about all the birds.

I wish I had listened harder to my grandfather, Arthur Porter (b. 1895), my uncles George and Charlie Porter, my grandmother, aunts and parents, Chris and Granny Perry and all the people I grew up with and their stories of hardship and how it was. Of shepherds, whalers, sealers and schooners, rouges and heros and how the Falklands was really made.
